LFOD Radio Ep. 123 – The State of New England Hip Hop 2018 (Part I)

image

For the past two years we’ve sat down with Tim Larew, Dart Adams, and Bedlam to discuss the state of New England Hip-Hop. We’re back again this year to follow up on the goals we set, share new insights, and predict what’s coming for 2019.  If you haven’t heard last year’s we’d strongly suggest listening…and even if you have it’s worth revisiting. Year one is a good intro as well. We’ll be back next week with Latrell James, M-DOT, and Oompa to present the artists’ point of view.

LFOD Radio Ep. 122 (Featuring TonyWhiteDDM)

About a year ago we were talking about Big KRIT and Pimp C when our phone started ringing. We patched the call through and were greeted by Mr. Tony White. He had just moved up from Maryland and had some opinions of his own. Not only that, but he was a rapper as well. After he hung up, he sent us a few records and we liked what we heard. We’ve kept in touch since and finally were able to bring him on air for a proper introduction. This would’ve been cool for those reasons alone, but he had a lot of knowledge to share as well. Artists, you could learn a lot from this conversation.

LFOD Radio Ep. 121 (Women in Hip-Hop)

Amanda Shea, Arielle Gray, Jessica Rich, and Lisa Finelli Fallon are four talented, driven, and inspirational women working behind the scenes to push our scene forward. Managing, promoting, creating, chronicling the artists and events that drive the culture…these are not easy tasks, but the four of them face an extra set of obstacles as they maneuver through the industry.

New Bern, NC’s own Ron Beatty flew up to Boston this week to premier songs off his new album and introduce himself to the area. In between records he talked with Sam, Teya, Amanda, and Alex (K-Ball) about his journey, influences, and of course – what Live Free or Die means to him. We also hosted a meet & greet/Q&A after, so stay tuned for footage and audio from that. Really fun night; definitely something we want to do again. Any other out of town artists you’d like to see?

LFOD Radio Ep. 115 (Featuring Block to Booth)

Block To Booth is on a mission to revolutionize the studio service experience by bringing it right to your front door. We met Sensei Swagg & Umazi at MECon 2018, where they first told us about their vision. It’s been dope watching it evolve since then, growing to include a web series and promotional platform for artists as well. With Season One filming this weekend, the timing was right to bring them in for a conversation. We also learned a bit about their individual backgrounds: Sensei’s adventures as a Brooklyn kid learning to rap, Umazi’s experience as an international activist, and how their two paths brought them together. The positive energy these two radiate is contagious…

LFOD Radio Ep. 114 (Featuring REKS and Shortfyuz)

REKS & Shortfyuz are dropping Order in Chaos this Friday, September 14th. The two of them called in from Logan Airport on their way to tour Europe. This was our fourth convo with REKS, so we built off the previous ones and got a bit deeper into his mentality when it comes to moving through the music biz. We also got a preview of what’s to come on their new album, followed up on The Greatest X, and heard why they still hold Scientifik in such high regard. Catch them in a city near you this fall.
