The 2019 Alumni Cypher

#AlumniCypher

We just wrapped up our annual Alumni Cypher Series and it was one of the best yet. The tradition is stronger than ever. For the fifth straight year, we invited all of our past guests back to rhyme live on-air with their fellow MCs. We had a different group each Tuesday in July & they all brought the heat!

None of this would have been possible without participation from the thriving artistic community in New England, which includes not only vocal artists, but the producers, graphic designers, photographers, and filmmakers behind the scenes, as well as the institutions that support them and create spaces and opportunities to thrive.

This year’s cyphers are brought to you by the Table Manners DJs & Wreck Shop Movement. Once again, the Beat Club Podcast has provided us with the beats. Producers, get hip to them if you haven’t.

Last but certainly not least, we’d like to thank all our patrons for rocking with us! If you’d like to learn more about that, head over here. There’s exclusive cypher footage and audio…

For the past two years we’ve sat down with Tim Larew, Dart Adams, and Bedlam to discuss the state of New England Hip-Hop. We’re back again this year to follow up on the goals we set, share new insights, and predict what’s coming for 2019.  If you haven’t heard last year’s we’d strongly suggest listening…and even if you have it’s worth revisiting. Year one is a good intro as well. We’ll be back next week with Latrell James, M-DOT, and Oompa to present the artists’ point of view.

Show Review: Slaine VS Termanology

Another successful New England Hip-Hop event performed in the beautiful city of Manchester, NH! The legends, together as “Slaine VS Termanology”, embark on tour to promote their first studio album, Anti-Hero. In the past they’ve collaborated, but September 15th was the first time they came together live as the monstrous duo. As surprise to no one, both tore it down with constant command of the microphone and crowd interaction. What better place to kick off this east coast promo circuit than the thriving New Hampshire Hip-Hop scene?

Reminiscent of Lord Finesse VS Percee P, but a similar idea to Lil Wayne VS Drake, the tour showcases two battle-tested emcees that face-off & let the fans decide while also blessing the stage with solo classics of their own. With DJ Deadeye on the ones and twos, the duo brought along ST. da Squad generals Ea$y Money and Superstah Snuk, who themselves brought out surprise appearances from REKS and Artisin.

This JigsMusic show held at the intimate but roaring Jewel Night Club was hosted by the well-known freestyle fanatic, LB. The night was kept in motion by DJ Clashious Clay. Supporting acts DK, Problematik, and Champange Rod blessed the stage with memorable moments. The most memorable of the supporting acts was Jay Gudda, who jumped into the crowd to perform amongst his followers.

To stay in tune with the scene in real-time, be sure to link up with us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. We also broadcast live ever Tuesday at 7pm on 91.5FM in Boston or streaming right here.
